If You’re Still Asking Presenters to “Just Clip It Somewhere,” You’re Under-Equipped
Share
Today I was show calling a conference at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and had the opportunity to see 10 sets of FlexCap and BodyGrip working in a live environment.
There’s something different about watching your own product being used in a show you’re calling. You see the pressure points. You see the timing. You see what actually matters.
Good audio shouldn’t require a wardrobe change.
The Real-World Problem
On one of the panel sessions, traditional lapel placement simply wasn’t going to work:
- High-neck knitted top
- Large statement necklace
- No obvious mounting point
In too many conference environments, this is the moment where someone says, “Can you just clip it somewhere?”
That usually means:
- Compromising the presenter’s look
- Awkward repositioning backstage
- Visible taping
- Or hoping it will “be fine”
That’s not a professional workflow.
Adjust the Solution — Not the Presenter
Instead of asking the presenter to modify her outfit, we modified the mounting solution.
Using the FlexCap, we positioned the microphone cleanly and securely without altering her appearance. No visible workaround. No wardrobe adjustment. No tension in the wings.
From a show-calling perspective, that matters.
Every extra minute spent solving preventable mounting problems increases stress, delays changeovers, and creates friction between crew and talent. When you’re running tight conference timings, those small inefficiencies compound quickly.
Why 10 Sets in Rotation Matters
Seeing 10 sets of FlexCap and BodyGrip in rotation tells me something important.
This isn’t a novelty purchase.
It’s becoming part of the standard audio kit.
When venues and production teams equip themselves properly, mic mounting stops being improvisation and starts being process.
That improves:
- Presenter confidence
- Audio consistency
- Crew efficiency
- Overall show flow
