Sometimes it comes from the audio engineer. Sometimes it comes from the TD. Occasionally it comes from the client who has just watched the A2 attach a wireless pack to a presenter's dress using what looks like two magnets and nothing else.
The question is always some version of the same thing: do the magnets cause RF interference?
It is a fair question. Wireless audio is sensitive. Frequencies drop out. Packs detune. The last thing any crew needs is a new piece of kit introducing a variable that wasn't there before. So the concern makes sense, and it deserves a straight answer.
The short answer is no.
MagnetMate clips have been used with Shure Axient Digital, Lectrosonics, Sennheiser G4, and a range of other professional wireless systems across hundreds of shows. MCEC and ICC Sydney both run ten sets of BodyGrip as standard venue kit, used daily across multiple rooms and sessions. There have been no drop-offs, no interference, and no detuning attributed to the magnets.
Why the magnets don't cause interference
Understanding why requires a quick look at how the clips actually work.
The BodyGrip and BodyMax both work the same way. One half of the clip sits inside the clothing, against the presenter's body. The other half sits on the outside of the clothing. The two halves are held together by rare-earth neodymium magnets through the fabric. The wireless transmitter then clips onto the outer half of the mount. It is not sandwiched between the magnets, and the magnets are not in direct contact with the transmitter body or its antenna.
The magnets are separated from the transmitter electronics by the clip mechanism itself. The RF signal travels from the transmitter antenna, which sits above the mount, clear of the magnetic field.
For the FlexCapsule and LockCapsule, the magnet sits behind the lapel mic capsule only. There is no transmitter body involved. The capsule is passive and has no electronics that can be affected by magnetic interference. The N35 rare-earth magnets used in these clips are small and their magnetic field is localised.
What crews actually report
In practice, audio engineers who have used MagnetMate clips alongside professional wireless systems report no change in RF performance compared to using a standard belt clip. The packs perform the same way they always have. The mounting method changes. The signal doesn't.
This is consistent with how rare-earth magnets behave in proximity to RF systems. The magnetic field from a neodymium magnet is static. It does not pulse, oscillate, or generate radio frequency energy. RF interference comes from oscillating electromagnetic fields, not static magnetic fields. A static magnet sitting near a wireless transmitter is not generating the kind of energy that disrupts RF signals.
The one thing worth monitoring
If a transmitter has an external whip antenna and the antenna is positioned directly against the magnetic part of the mount, there is a theoretical possibility of signal degradation. Not from the magnet itself, but from the antenna being physically constrained or bent. In practice this is easy to avoid by ensuring the antenna is free of the mount and kept away from the magnets.
Standard cable management practice eliminates this as a concern entirely.
