Why We’ve Renamed Some of Our Clips (And What’s Changed)

Why We’ve Renamed Some of Our Clips (And What’s Changed)

When I launched MagnetMate just over a year ago, the focus was simple: solve mic and comms mounting problems with strong, easy-to-use magnetic clips that actually work in the real world.

Since then, we’ve grown the product range, refined the designs, and listened to feedback from techs, educators, and operators across the country. Along the way, it became clear that some of our original product names weren’t doing enough to clearly explain what the clips were for or why they were different.

So we’ve updated a few names to better match their purpose and performance.

Here’s what’s changed:

New Name

Old Name

MagnetMate BodyGrip

2 Mag Lapel Clip

MagnetMate BodyMax

3 Mag Lapel Clip

MagnetMate CommsPro

Standard Comms Clip

MagnetMate CommsPro HD

Heavy Duty Comms Clip

MagnetMate FlexCapsule

Universal Capsule Clip

MagnetMate DPA LockCapsule

DPA Capsule Clip

MagnetMate IFB-R1a RepMount

New Product

MagnetMate IFB-R1b AdaptMount

New Product

Why the new names?

We’re not changing the products themselves. These new names simply reflect what the clips are designed for and how they’re used.

  • BodyGrip and BodyMax now clearly separate the two sizes of lapel pack clips.
  • CommsPro and CommsPro HD help distinguish between the standard and heavy-duty comms clips. This is especially useful for thicker clothing or heavier comms packs.
  • FlexCapsule speaks to the adaptability of the capsule clip, particularly when mounting to talent without lapels or collars.
  • DPA LockCapsule highlights the secure fit designed specifically for DPA lavalier microphones.

As we’ve added new solutions for IFB receivers like the R1a, we’ve launched those products with clear, purpose-built names right from the start.

What’s next?

We’ll keep listening, refining, and improving. The mission remains the same: make gear mounting faster, safer, and easier for the people working on the front lines of production.

If you’ve got feedback, ideas, or mounting challenges you’d like help solving, get in touch or book a quick demo.

Thanks again for being part of the journey.
